Techniques of Nail Application The different techniques of applying artificial nail extensions. 1, The tip and overlay nail extensions: This method involves applying a plastic nail tip to the free edge of the natural nail and then it is usually "blended in". A product is then applied over the natural nail and plastic tip to strengthen the nail extension. 2, Sculptured nail extensions: This method uses a nail form, which is placed under the free edge and is used as a platform to apply the product on to. This method does not use a plastic tip, once the product has set, the nail form is then removed and the nail extension is then shaped with an emery board. The systems that can be used for sculptured nail extensions are; * Acrylic = approximate application time : 1 hour 15 minutes * UV Gel = approximate application time: 1 hour.
3, Nail Tips This method just uses plastic tip that is applied to the free edge of the natural nail and then blended in. Approximate application time: 45 minutes
4, Pre-formed "stick" on nails This method uses a plastic tip that is applied to the whole nail plate with an adhesive or sticky backing. Approximate application time: 30 minutes 5, Natural nail overlays This method does not extend the length of the natural nail; it only provides added strength by applying a product directly over the natural nail.
